Summer Pajamas

Summer is starting here by us and my two girls have totally outgrown their pajamas. The oldest one alone grew 4 inches.
I found this nice Hello Kitty fabric at the store and decided this would be perfect for their pajamas. I took the 11 year old one's pajamas that was getting a little tight and got my pattern from there and cut it bigger - could have made the legs still longer but I misjudged how tall she is - would have helped to measure I guess. So then I put some black binding on - luckily she quite liked it.
When I finished the top of course I had to put some ruffles on, so I made like a necklace and then put a heart on the front (It's kinda hard to see).

For the 7 year old I made the pants the exact size of the other one I got the pattern from - and it just fit perfectly - wouldn't even last another year. I wanted to make her top different ...she first complained but then I explained to her that next year or the year after she'll get the passed on pajamas from her sister and has to wear it again. Luckily she got that quickly and told her sister she doesn't want to get bored with her pajamas LOL. For her top I took one of her old t-shirts and figured out the pattern from there.
I was going to put a heart on hers as well but Miss Smartypants told me she wouldn't like to wear a heart again next year. (My own words coming back to me now :) ) So she decided to have a N for her name on her stomach. Of course then she wanted all the other letters of her name all over - she got quite inventive also...on her backside etc. but I quickly put a stop to that LOL
These actually went quite easy and fast... I'll have to whip them up another pair. I think this might be a cute Christmas present for the nieces as well.

Cupcake Babyshower

I'm so exited to be posting my first blog post. I have been wanting to start this blog for two years... but I sometimes need a great kick in the you know what.
I just love all kinds of crafts, would actually describe myself as having craft ADHD because I do get bored with doing the same thing :) I have 3 kids and try to craft for them when I can. I'm a stay-at-home mom these last 3 years and I couldn't be happier about it. Nowadays I'm mostly sewing, I taught myself to sew from looking at tutorials on the internet, so I guess you could say I'm internet-taught or blog-taught if you think about it.

I thought for my first post I'll share with you what I made for my sister's baby shower recently.

When I had my last little one 7 years ago...I couldn't sew much except a straight line. It was great crafting for Samantha though (she was born on 4 October).

I made use of several tutorials for the dresses, like the Itty Bitty Tutorial from Made By Rae, here's the link

I had so much fun making these dresses that for a while I thought it would be great to have another baby...until I got some sense again LOL

I made her a diaper cake with my first ever sock monkey, it was a lot of fun but I must say, those long legs and tail took forever to stuff... I didn't have any pink thread for the monkey's mouth (red just wasn't going to cut it) - in the end decided to sew a piece of rick-rack and I guess that did the trick.

Of course I had to make some burp cloths as well.. here she is...trying to figure out what it is LOL

Made some cupcakes with cream cheese icing...they kinda flopped..but still tasted good...
and the rest of the spread
Chair for the mother-to-be to sit and open gifts (ignore the silly child on the side - after several tries I gave up trying to take a photo without them)

I asked everyone to bring a onesie and printed several sayings on iron-on paper and each guest could choose what she wanted to add for the baby. This was a big hit - but seeing none of them used this before I had to spend a lot of time with them at the ironing board..my favourite place couldn't you guess... Of course I forgot to take some photo's of the onesies... go figure..
